Strategic, Business, and Action Planning
Strategic planning and analysis is the first step in the planning model. This step describes and defines the external environment in terms that allow the organization to develop and deploy specific core competencies and skills. It also defines the internal processes that support those skills and competencies. The process must continue to articulate the model in terms of specific processes, inputs, outputs, and linkage to other processes. This definition process highlights points where particular measures can provide early warning of problems or opportunities. Measures can then be developed to report on these pertinent process points. The final output of the strategic planning process is a set of long-range goals and specific actions required to accomplish those goals.

Performance Measurements and Indicators
Developing good performance measures is essential. If the indicators are developed properly, they will not provide management with the information necessary to control the processes. Several key issues that must be considered in developing performance measures are:

  • Needs Assessments in education, leadership development, workforce development, training and human resources
  • Preparation of recommendations for basic and higher education; institutional strengthening; human resource development; and information and communications technologies.
  • Impact assessments of education sector programs on national and regional development
  • Establishment of education monitoring systems
  • Technical, economic and social feasibility analyses
  • Infrastructure needs assessment and capital development technical assistance for national school systems Limit the number of measures
  • Include measures for customers, stakeholders, employees
  • Start at the top of the organization and build buy-in throughout
  • Link measures to goals
  • Seek balance among measures
  • Develop measures for past, present, and future
  • Focus on high-priority programs, benefits, and value

If care is taken in developing the performance measures and indicators, management will have accurate and timely information on which to make decisions. Toward this end, The Mitchelll Group helps organizations and governments to design and implement the most effective programs possible -- programs that help people to overcome a myriad of social, political and economic obstacles to development.

Process and Productivity Improvement
Is quality improvement a program? It is more a journey than a destination. It is a process of continuous improvement adopted to remain competitive in the long run. Because of it, competitors readily feel strategic implications and the effects of significant quality improvement. Some of them will respond by meeting or exceeding the new quality standards, and by making continuous improvement imperative for maintaining a competitive edge. Continuous improvement must be made or else, the level of quality will decrease in the long term.

  • Provides diagnostic analysis of organizational problems
