TMG’s
communications and publications staff have edited AFR/SD’s
entire five-year strategic plan as well as numerous Congressional
Presentations, the Annual Report review documents, interagency
agreements, research papers, briefing papers, Web pages, memos
(including action memos), letters, forms, brochures in English
and French, questionnaires and newsletters. The communications
team collects and presents information on new or ongoing activities
(such as the Initiative to End Hunger in Africa) in written, PowerPoint
or Web-based formats, as well as AFR/SD’s Annual Reports.
The publications team takes materials and ideas from AFR/SD staff,
researches, edits and rewrites in collaboration with technical
experts. They also develop formats and designs for technical papers,
briefers, and handouts.
TMG has helped several clients to identify information requirements
and has implemented successfully data collection, analysis, and
dissemination activities. The following example demonstrate our
past performance and expertise in this area.
DCHA/OFDA: Implementing
this contract required identifying appropriate data collection
and analysis techniques, quickly developing and clearing reports,
writing speeches and talking points, and coordinating with LPA,
IRM, and other offices to disseminate information. Information
Specialists collected, analyzed, synthesized and disseminated information
regarding pending and on-going disasters. Different product formats
and templates, including Situation Reports, Fact Sheets and Information
Bulletins, were developed to meet varying reporting needs based
on target audience and type of disaster. Information specialists
deployed overseas to work with U.S. missions to provide reporting
for the U.S. government and to serve on assessment teams. Information
specialists also drafted information strategies, participated in
country and regional strategy development, and supported portfolio
reviews. In addition, these information specialists were responsible
for producing OFDA’s Annual Report, the Action Officer’s
Handbook (which provided procedures and lessons learned), briefing
materials, conference proceedings, and meeting notes. The unit
also maintained OFDA’s Disaster History Database, Commodity/Services
Database, Mission Disaster Relief Officer (MDRO) Contact List,
listserves, and mailing lists.
